What Is A.C.T.S. of Kindness?
With great joy, Nelson Family Realty is thrilled to announce the launch of our first community outreach organization, A.C.T.S. of Kindness! We are more than just a business and more than just a family; we want to be a positive impact on this community and this world, and this is our first step.
Our Current Initiative
Our current project is the widespread litter pollution across the South Metro. Since January of 2019, volunteers from our company have worked to clean local roads, parks and waterways to help prevent the buildup of plastic and other forms of litter pollution. From January to mid-June, over 600 pounds of trash have been collected and properly disposed of, allowing our friends and wildlife to better enjoy our neighborhoods!
To start, we have officially adopted two highways in the South Metro: County Road 42 between I-35 and Lac Lavon Drive in Burnsville, and Cedar Avenue between County Road 46 and Dodd Boulevard! By keeping these highways clean of trash, we hope to prevent this litter from reaching other areas. Unfortunately, we cannot adopt every highway, so we look for parks and waterways that need extra attention as well. To accomplish our goals, our volunteers have committed to at minimum a couple hours each weekend (weather permitting) to work on either our adopted highways or custom projects.
How You Can Help!
We’d love to have you help out with our cleanup projects! We have two primary ways you can do this:
- Suggest a location that needs picking up! Do you have a pond or park near your home that is littered with trash? A road you drive on every day that never seems to be clean? Let us know – we may just make it our weekend project! Since A.C.T.S. of Kindness is volunteer-driven, making a suggestion is completely free.
- Become a volunteer! All volunteers* are welcome to attend any of our cleanups for the full two hours or however long you choose to help. Garbage bags are provided, just bring comfortable clothing and gloves.
Please fill out the contact form below to suggest an area for us to clean up, volunteer to help out, or send any other feedback our way. Our outreach coordinator, Tyler, will be in touch!
* All volunteers will be required to sign a waiver before joining our project. All volunteers age 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
** While we are a family business, our community service program is strictly that: community service! By contacting us below to make a suggestion or volunteer your time, you are NOT granting permission to be added to any real estate email lists or solicited for real estate services. We will only contact you directly regarding community service opportunities.
